Lovelock, NV – A mild earthquake rattled eastern Nevada Saturday, striking about 57 kilometers east-southeast of Lovelock. The quake, measured at a magnitude of 3.2, was recorded at a depth of 6.2 kilometers, according to the Nevada Seismological Laboratory.
While no significant damage or injuries have been reported, residents in nearby areas may have felt the tremor. Minor earthquakes like this are common in Nevada, a seismically active region. According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake’s shallow depth and moderate magnitude likely contributed to local shaking, though reports remain sparse.
Experts encourage residents to report any tremor experiences to help scientists understand the earthquake’s impact. Minor earthquakes serve as a reminder of Nevada’s tectonic activity and highlight the importance of preparedness. Officials urge residents to stay informed about earthquake safety and to maintain emergency plans and supplies.
To report experiences from the quake, residents can use the USGS “Did You Feel It?” tool to contribute to ongoing research.
