LAS VEGAS — Community events, festivals, and neighborhood programs across the Las Vegas Valley are facing growing pressure from rising costs and ongoing staffing shortages.

The events industry in Las Vegas and cities across the country has been battling with sharp increases in audiovisual and production costs. Planners are reporting paying up to 40% more for AV setups than in 2019. Larger businesses can often absorb the costs, but for smaller community and neighborhood events, these costs can result in scaled-back events and higher fees.

As other operating costs rise, so do vendor fees. In response, residents might find that seasonal festivals are scaled back or have increased entry fees. In 2025, food and drink costs rose by 2.9% and restaurants raised prices by as much as 4.6% according to Barmetrix.

Staffing issues are also impacting events. A 2025 report from the Event Industry Council revealed that 89% of event professionals say staffing shortages have directly impacted their events. For smaller, community-run events that rely on volunteers, many seasonal events may struggle to recruit enough staff and volunteers.

With rising costs pushing community festival and events costs up, budget-conscious residents will be less willing or able to support local events.
