Beatty, Nevada — Residents across Esmeralda and central Nye counties should prepare for freezing temperatures overnight, as the National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a Freeze Warning from midnight through 8 a.m. Sunday.

According to the Weather Service, readings near 32 degrees are expected by early Sunday, especially around Dyer and the surrounding desert valleys. The clear, dry air mass settling over central Nevada will allow rapid overnight cooling, marking one of the first widespread freezes of the fall season.

Frost and freeze conditions could damage or kill unprotected crops, flowers, and garden plants. Agricultural operators and homeowners are urged to cover vegetation and bring sensitive plants indoors. Residents should also consider wrapping outdoor pipes or irrigation systems to prevent cracking.

While daytime temperatures are expected to rebound into the upper 60s Sunday afternoon, overnight lows will remain near freezing through early next week, keeping the frost risk elevated for much of rural central Nevada.
