LAS VEGAS — A beloved Las Vegas holiday tradition will not be returning this year.
Each year since 2011, hundreds of locals and tourists flocked to the rooftop ice rink at the Boulevard Tower pool. The resort would transform the 4,200 square-foot pool into a winter wonderland with twinkling Christmas lights, festive music, and a towering Christmas tree.
Usually, the announcement of opening happens between October 25 and November 5, but this year, the resort has been quiet. According to the “Five Hundy by Midnight” podcast, the tink and all the furniture will be up for auction at biddergy.com.
While no official statements have been made by MGM Resorts confirming the closure, the list of items for auction includes the rink walls, a full temporary plumbing grid for the antifreeze that helps make the ice, and the Zamboni. These listings strongly suggest that the rooftop rink tradition has come to an end.
The bidding starts at $5,000 at 5 a.m. PT on November 24, 2025. MGM has made no announcements on why it’s selling the rink and whether it intends to use the space for a different Christmas event.
