Reno, NV – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of California and Nevada, with snow expected to impact higher elevations through Thursday afternoon. Travelers and commuters should prepare for slippery roads and hazardous conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Reno, snowfall will begin early Wednesday morning and persist until 4 p.m. Thursday. Areas above 5,000 feet in Lassen, Eastern Plumas, and Eastern Sierra counties in California can expect between 1 to 6 inches of snow, while parts of Western Nevada Basin and Range, including Pyramid Lake and Mineral and Southern Lyon counties, could see 2 to 7 inches of accumulation. Wind gusts up to 25 mph may further impact visibility and road safety.

Officials warn that the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes could be affected, particularly in higher elevations. Travelers are advised to drive with caution and check road conditions by calling 511 before heading out.

The storm is expected to make travel difficult, with slippery roads and reduced visibility creating challenges for drivers. Those in affected areas should prepare for winter driving conditions and allow extra time for travel.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to monitor updates from local authorities and the National Weather Service for the latest advisories and safety recommendations.
