Las Vegas, Nevada – Triple-digit temperatures are scorching the Mojave this Sunday, with Las Vegas hitting 106°F under clear skies and afternoon breezes. Kingman reached 101°F and Barstow followed closely at 103°F, capping off a dangerously hot weekend across the region.
According to the National Weather Service Las Vegas, the extreme heat will continue into early next week, with highs staying above 100°F through Thursday. Light winds may provide minor relief, but heat-related illness remains a risk, especially for vulnerable groups. The agency is also monitoring an influx of monsoonal moisture that could trigger isolated thunderstorms starting Tuesday, mainly in northwest Arizona and eastern Mojave areas.
Drivers and outdoor workers in Las Vegas, Kingman, and Barstow should limit activity during peak heat hours, drink plenty of water, and check on elderly neighbors. Any sudden downpours Tuesday could lead to slick roads and reduced visibility in affected zones.
Temperatures will stay elevated through the first week of July, and additional weather alerts may be issued if storm activity increases.
