LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Triple-digit heat will grip southern Nevada, southeastern California, and northwestern Arizona through Tuesday night, with temperatures pushing past 110°F in many desert communities. The National Weather Service warns that Las Vegas, Lake Mead, and Mesquite could see highs between 108°F and 114°F, while Furnace Creek in Death Valley may peak at a blistering 122°F.
According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, the Extreme Heat Warning will remain in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday, impacting communities from Barstow and Twentynine Palms to Lake Havasu City, Kingman, and Bullhead City. The agency urges residents to avoid prolonged outdoor activity, drink plenty of fluids, and check on vulnerable neighbors.
Heat illness can set in quickly during conditions like this. Officials stress never to leave children or pets in vehicles, as interiors can reach deadly temperatures in minutes. Outdoor workers should take frequent shaded breaks and wear light clothing.
Temperatures will ease slightly midweek but remain hot enough to warrant caution. More heat advisories could be issued later this week if high pressure lingers.
