LAS VEGAS — Residents planning to shop for Christmas on Amazon need to be aware of shipping cutoff dates to avoid disappointment.
The holidays are the retail giant’s busiest periods. Last year, consumers spent $240.8 billion during the holiday season, a 4.9% increase from 2023. This year, Amazon is expecting high shopper volumes and is preparing by implementing peak surcharges during the holiday rush.
From Nov. 23 through Dec. 27, 2025, all packages will be charged an additional 60 cents. There will also be additional handling fees of $10.80, large-package fees of $107 and extra-heavy package fees of $540.
While the retailer has yet to announce the 2025 shipping cutoff dates, last year’s cutoffs were Dec. 14 for free standard shipping, Dec. 22 for two-day Prime shipping and Dec. 24 for same-day delivery. This year’s dates will likely be similar.
Get your parcels delivered during the busiest delivery window of the year by ordering your parcels early. Amazon has advised suppliers to schedule pickup on or before Dec. 18, 2025, to deliver parcels by Christmas day, so it’s a good idea to order before this date as well.
Protect your parcels from porch pirates or missed deliveries by using Amazon’s lockers. There are over 130 Amazon Hub locations in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson. This service is easy to use. Consumers will place their order as usual and select the locker option under delivery information. An email with collection instructions — including a pickup code or Bluetooth connection — will be sent.
