Nebraska – A snowy and blustery Friday will bring challenging travel conditions to parts of Nebraska before a major shift to warmer spring-like weather by next week. Residents should prepare for hazardous road conditions Friday morning as snow combines with gusty winds up to 35 mph.
According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Valley, Greeley, Nance, Sherman, and Howard counties until Friday afternoon. Snowfall could total two inches in some northern areas, with slushy accumulation likely elsewhere. Conditions will improve by the evening as skies gradually clear.
Saturday marks a turning point with sunny skies and highs reaching 52°F. Winds will be light from the northwest, making for a calm and pleasant start to the weekend. Sunday continues the warming trend, bringing clear skies and a high near 63°F.
By Monday, Nebraska will see an even bigger warm-up, with highs soaring to 74°F under mostly sunny skies. However, the rapid warm-up will increase the risk of fire weather concerns early next week.
Don’t forget to set clocks forward one hour Sunday morning as daylight saving time begins at 2 a.m. The extra daylight will bring longer evenings, perfect for enjoying Nebraska’s improving spring weather.
