Hastings, NE – A three-day snow event is set to impact central Nebraska, with accumulating snowfall expected from Monday through Wednesday. Residents should prepare for hazardous travel conditions, bitter cold, and icy roads.

According to the National Weather Service, a 20% chance of snow will develop Monday afternoon, increasing to 70% by Monday night. Snow will continue into Tuesday and Wednesday, with a 50% chance each day. Gusty winds could cause blowing and drifting snow, particularly on U.S. Highway 6 and other major routes.

Highs will hover in the 30s on Monday but quickly drop into the teens and 20s by midweek. Overnight lows will reach single digits, making road conditions treacherous as ice forms. Drivers should allow extra travel time and use caution when commuting.

By Thursday, skies will clear slightly, but frigid temperatures will persist. Another system could bring additional snow chances by Friday and into the weekend. Residents should stay informed about changing conditions and prepare for a prolonged period of winter weather.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation advises motorists to carry an emergency kit, including blankets, food, and water. Schools and businesses may experience delays or closures if conditions worsen.
