Falls City, NE – A powerful winter storm is set to impact southeastern Nebraska, bringing heavy snowfall and dangerous wind chills from Tuesday evening through Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, Nemaha, Pawnee, and Richardson counties are under a Winter Storm Warning from 6 p.m. Tuesday until 6 p.m. Wednesday. Snowfall totals between 5 to 7 inches are expected, with winds gusting 20 to 25 mph, creating blowing and drifting snow that will reduce visibility.
Travel conditions will be hazardous, especially during the Wednesday morning and evening commutes. Wind chills could drop to -10°F, increasing the risk of frostbite for those exposed to the cold for extended periods.
Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel. If driving is necessary, officials recommend keeping an emergency kit with food, water, and a flashlight in vehicles.
For real-time road conditions, call 511 or check local travel advisories.
