Omaha, NE — Residents in Omaha can expect a calm and sunny Wednesday before a sharp shift to strong winds and colder temperatures on Thursday. A cold front will bring wind gusts up to 38 mph, which could make travel challenging across the region.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday’s high will reach a relatively mild 51°F, but conditions will turn blustery by evening as northwest winds ramp up. Gusts could peak near 38 mph, reducing visibility and making outdoor activities uncomfortable. The nighttime low will dip sharply to 15°F, marking a cold end to the day.

Heading into Friday, temperatures will struggle to climb above 27°F despite mostly sunny skies. Wind speeds will ease, offering some relief. By Saturday, Omaha can look forward to calmer conditions with a high of 36°F and light southeast winds. Sunny skies will continue into Sunday, where the high will hit a slightly warmer 41°F.

Travelers and commuters are urged to prepare for wind impacts on Thursday evening, particularly along major routes like Interstate 80 and surrounding roadways. Those with outdoor plans on Thursday and Friday should bundle up as wind chills could feel much colder than the forecasted temperatures.

Looking further ahead, next week brings another warming trend with highs reaching the upper 40s by Monday.
