Omaha, NE – Expect a warm and breezy Sunday, with high temperatures near 84°F and a south-southwest wind of 6-13 mph, gusting as high as 21 mph. The unseasonably warm and dry weather has led to very high fire danger today, with the National Weather Service warning that any fires could spread rapidly under these conditions.
According to the National Weather Service Omaha/Valley office, a chance of much-needed rain will arrive by Monday evening. Monday’s high will remain warm, around 82°F, with mostly sunny skies during the day. A 10% chance of showers develops after 5 p.m., but the real rain threat comes overnight. Showers and thunderstorms are likely Monday night, especially after 10 p.m., with a 60% chance of precipitation. Gusty winds could accompany the storms, reaching up to 24 mph. New rainfall amounts should stay under a tenth of an inch, though higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms.
Looking ahead, Tuesday will bring calmer, sunny weather with a high of 80°F, while a cooling trend sets in by midweek. Wednesday’s highs will reach only the upper 60s as more rain showers are expected, followed by much cooler temperatures through the end of the week.
