Hastings, Nebraska – Scattered storms may return to central Nebraska Tuesday and again Friday, but much of the week will remain dry with highs holding in the upper 80s to low 90s through Thursday. A cooling trend is expected to take hold by the weekend as a cold front pushes through the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, Tuesday and Friday each bring a chance for isolated to scattered storms, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours. Winds will stay light and variable midweek, shifting from the east early on to more southerly flow by Thursday.

High temperatures from Tuesday through Thursday will generally range between 88° and 95°, creating a stretch of hot, dry conditions across much of south-central and eastern Nebraska. Locations such as Grand Island, Kearney, and York could see brief relief during Friday’s storm chances, especially if cloud cover limits daytime heating.

The bigger shift arrives late Friday as a cold front moves through, knocking weekend highs back into the low 80s and even upper 70s by Sunday. Residents planning outdoor activities this weekend should prepare for more comfortable conditions but keep an eye on any lingering Friday storms.

More updates are expected by Thursday if storm timing or severity changes.
