Nebraska – Winds tug at coats across south-central Nebraska this morning as flags snap hard along Highway 281. Temperatures hover in the mid-30s, but the feel is sharper as gusts push past 30 mph early, setting a restless tone for the day.

According to the National Weather Service, clouds thin steadily through the morning, allowing temperatures in Hastings to climb toward 50 by afternoon. North winds ease slightly later today, though gusts may still top 30 mph at times. The combination of wind and warming creates fast-changing road conditions, especially where frost lingers in shaded areas.

Skies stay partly cloudy tonight, and temperatures dip into the mid-20s. By Wednesday morning, calmer air settles in. Sunshine dominates the day, and highs reach the low 50s. It will feel noticeably milder, with only light winds by late morning.

Wednesday night turns cooler but quiet. Lows settle near 31, keeping any moisture frozen on contact. Thursday delivers the warmest stretch of the week. Mostly sunny skies push highs into the mid-50s, a clear February spring tease across Adams and Clay counties. Outdoor plans benefit, but melting snow during the day could refreeze after sunset.

Friday remains mild, with highs near 53 under partly sunny skies. Clouds increase late Friday night, and a slight rain chance develops after midnight. While impacts look limited, wet pavement combined with cooler air may create slick spots early Saturday.

Looking ahead, NOAA’s 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures across much of the central Plains. That suggests the late-week warmth may extend into early next week, hinting at a broader February thaw.

Secure loose items today, use caution on breezy roads, and stay alert for refreezing after sunset later this week. Feeling the early taste of spring where you live?
