Omaha, Nebraska – Storms may shake parts of Nebraska early Saturday, but residents should brace for scorching sunshine and 90s soon after.
According to the National Weather Service, a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms exists before 7 a.m. Saturday, especially around Omaha and along I-80. Conditions will clear quickly, with skies turning sunny by midday and highs reaching 83°F. Winds will shift north-northwest around 8 mph, bringing temporary relief before a sharp weekend warm-up.
Sunday through Tuesday, southern Nebraska, including Douglas, Sarpy, and Lancaster counties, will see daily highs in the low to mid-90s, with Monday topping out near 93°F. South winds of 5 to 10 mph, gusting up to 17 mph, will add dry heat and elevate fire risk in rural zones.
Residents should hydrate regularly, avoid strenuous outdoor activity midday, and never leave children or pets in vehicles.
Heading into Tuesday, another round of isolated showers and thunderstorms is possible during the day and evening, especially in southeast Nebraska. These storms may bring gusts up to 20 mph, but won’t offer much cooling relief.
