Nebraska Weather Alert: Storm Chances Rise Overnight, Heat Builds Into Monday

Hastings, Neb. – Residents across central Nebraska should prepare for scattered thunderstorms Friday evening that could impact travel and outdoor plans. The storm threat is expected to ease by Saturday morning before returning early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, showers and thunderstorms may develop after 4 p.m. Friday, with brief heavy rainfall possible. A stronger round of storms could arrive between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m., bringing localized downpours. Rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch are expected, though some areas may see more in heavier storms.

Saturday brings a break in the wet weather with partly sunny skies and a high near 74, while Sunday will be mostly sunny and warmer with highs near 78. Storm chances increase again Monday evening into Tuesday, especially in Hall, Adams, and Clay counties, where up to a half inch of rain may fall.

Travelers are urged to monitor conditions and avoid driving during heavy downpours. Residents should also keep phones charged in case of isolated power outages from lightning.

Storm chances remain in the forecast through Tuesday, with drier and cooler air expected to return by midweek.
