Omaha, NE – Snow showers and subfreezing temperatures are gripping eastern Nebraska and western Iowa today as a cold front moves through. Light snow accumulations and freezing wind chills will make roadways slick, especially during the morning and evening commutes.

According to the National Weather Service Omaha/Valley, a 30% chance of snow remains for Wednesday afternoon, with wind gusts reaching up to 22 mph. Overnight lows will hover near 9°F, intensifying wind chills that could drop below zero. Motorists are advised to use caution on roadways, including I-80 and Highway 75, where icy patches may develop.

Thursday brings mostly sunny skies, but temperatures will remain cold, peaking near 36°F. Winds shifting to the northwest at 10 mph will create gusty conditions, keeping real-feel temperatures significantly lower. Drivers should remain vigilant for black ice during the early hours.

Looking ahead, Friday and Saturday will see a brief reprieve as daytime highs reach the upper 30s under sunny skies. However, nighttime lows in the teens will maintain freezing conditions, especially in shaded or low-lying areas.

Residents are urged to dress warmly and limit time outdoors, particularly overnight when frostbite risks increase. Keep an eye on updates from the National Weather Service and local advisories for the latest information.
