Omaha, NE – Residents in Nebraska should prepare for severe weather today. The National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley issued a severe weather outlook for Monday, indicating a threat level of 2 for parts of eastern Nebraska, including Omaha and surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 20-40% chance of thunderstorms developing this evening, with the potential for some storms to become severe. The primary threats are damaging winds with gusts over 70 mph and quarter-size hail. The timing of the greatest threat is expected between 5 PM and 8 PM.

Residents are advised to stay weather-aware, especially if they have outdoor plans. The NWS recommends having multiple ways to receive weather warnings, such as NOAA Weather Radio or mobile alerts.

Today’s forecast shows clear skies in the morning, with temperatures rising to a high of 96°F. By late afternoon, partly cloudy conditions will develop, bringing the potential for thunderstorms. The rest of the week will see a cooling trend, with highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s. Tuesday is expected to be partly cloudy with a high of 86°F, and by Wednesday, temperatures will drop to a more comfortable 82°F under sunny skies.
