HASTINGS, NE – Scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder will move across south central Nebraska through early Monday morning before skies clear by midday. Overnight rain is expected to taper off near the Tri-Cities, with localized downpours possible in Hastings, Kearney, and Grand Island.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, storms tonight will stay mostly non-severe but could bring brief gusty winds up to 20 mph and light rainfall. Conditions will dry out quickly by Monday afternoon as cooler air settles in behind the system.

Drivers heading out early Monday should allow extra time on slick roads, especially along U.S. Highways 6 and 281 where ponding could occur. The rest of the week looks quiet and mild, with sunshine and gradually warming temperatures expected through Thursday.

No additional hazardous weather is anticipated until late Sunday night, when another round of showers may develop.
