Omaha, NE – Severe weather could impact parts of Nebraska Saturday evening, with isolated storms capable of producing damaging winds and large hail expected between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service Omaha/Valley, the primary threats include hail up to the size of quarters and wind gusts reaching 60 mph. Although the overall threat level remains marginal, forecasters warn that a tornado cannot be ruled out.
Storm development is expected during peak evening hours, affecting cities including Omaha, Lincoln, Fremont, and Norfolk. Residents are urged to monitor weather updates closely and review safety plans, particularly if traveling or attending outdoor events.
The Storm Prediction Center places eastern Nebraska under a Level 1 Marginal Risk, meaning a 5-14% chance of severe storms in the area. While flooding is unlikely, high winds could down branches and power lines. Hail may also cause vehicle or property damage if left unprotected.
To stay safe, keep mobile alerts turned on, shelter indoors during warnings, and move vehicles under cover where possible. The threat is expected to taper off late Saturday night as storms weaken.
