Hastings, NE – A blanket of fog covers much of south-central Nebraska early this Sunday, muting headlights and softening the skyline. As October’s final week begins, residents can expect a classic fall mix — fog, light rain, and then a crisp chill that signals the first true taste of November air.

According to the National Weather Service, visibility this morning remains low across Hastings and along Highway 6 before conditions improve after 9 a.m. Today will stay mostly cloudy, with highs near 55°F. A developing system from the south brings a 40–60% chance of showers Monday, especially through midday. Winds may gust up to 20 mph, making for damp, cool conditions during the morning commute and early errands.

By Tuesday, skies clear and the region shifts toward drier, calmer weather. Highs reach the low 50s, but colder air moves in Tuesday night, setting up lows in the mid-30s. By Wednesday morning, widespread frost becomes likely, marking the first frost event of the season for much of south-central Nebraska.

The second half of the week turns sunny and mild. Thursday and Friday bring highs near 55°F, ideal for outdoor Halloween prep, while Friday evening looks cool but comfortable for trick-or-treaters.

Looking ahead, the calm won’t last forever. Early long-range models hint at colder systems forming to the north — a likely chilly November ahead.
