Omaha, Nebraska – Storms will finally begin to ease across eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa by midday Thursday, July 31st, after another round of heavy rainfall early in the morning. Some localized flooding remains possible through noon, especially near low-lying areas and along Interstate 80 through Omaha.
According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, embedded thunderstorms with bursts of heavy rain will continue into the early morning hours. While rainfall totals will taper off by afternoon, spotters may still be needed Thursday morning to monitor lingering activity. Rain chances drop sharply after 1 p.m., with skies turning partly sunny and high temperatures climbing into the upper 70s.
Expect a noticeable pattern shift by Friday, as drier air and sun move into the region. Highs will hover around 80°F through the weekend, making it a great opportunity for outdoor plans across Douglas, Sarpy, and Pottawattamie counties. Winds will remain light out of the south and east.
By Monday and Tuesday, highs are expected to push back into the mid-80s with overnight lows staying in the low to mid-60s. Isolated storms could return by Tuesday night, but no severe weather is anticipated at this time.
⚠️ Weather alerts remain in effect through Thursday morning. Avoid flood-prone roads and use caution during morning commutes.
