Omaha, NE – Drivers across northeast Nebraska and western Iowa should prepare for freezing fog and slick travel conditions overnight, according to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley.

Forecasters say patchy fog is expected to develop late Saturday night into early Sunday morning, reducing visibility to less than one mile in some areas. With temperatures near or below freezing, isolated slick spots may form on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads — particularly near Norfolk, Sioux City, and Omaha.

According to the Weather Service, freezing fog can create dangerous black ice and rapid changes in visibility, especially during the early morning commute. Motorists are urged to use low-beam headlights, allow extra travel time, and keep a safe following distance.

The fog is expected to lift gradually by mid-morning Sunday as temperatures rise. Until then, drivers should remain cautious and plan for slower travel through the early hours.
