HASTINGS, Neb. – Drivers in south-central Nebraska should be alert for dense fog developing late Tuesday night into early Wednesday, with the thickest coverage expected east of Highway 183. Reduced visibility could impact travel through the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, patchy fog may form after midnight and linger until mid-morning Wednesday. A slight chance of thunderstorms also exists Wednesday afternoon, though severe weather is not anticipated.

Conditions will turn drier Thursday with sunny skies and highs near 90, but the break won’t last. Small storm chances return Thursday night, persisting into the weekend and early next week. Forecasters note that the best chance for any thunderstorm activity will be during evening and overnight hours.

For Hastings, temperatures will remain warm, with highs in the upper 80s to near 90 through Friday before dipping into the low 80s Saturday. Overnight lows will stay in the mid-60s, offering little relief from the summer humidity.
