Hastings, NE – Central Nebraska will see a shift from mild temperatures today to windy, colder conditions by Tuesday as a cold front sweeps across the region, according to the National Weather Service in Hastings.
According to the agency, Sunday brings the warmest conditions of the stretch, with highs climbing into the upper 50s to low 60s and southerly winds between 10 and 15 mph. Clouds will increase throughout the day as moisture lifts northward ahead of the next system.
Rain chances rise this evening into the overnight hours, with a 40–60% chance of showers moving into the region. Scattered showers are expected to linger through much of Monday, accompanied by highs in the lower to middle 50s. Winds will shift slightly from the south to the northwest at 5 to 10 mph as the cold front approaches.
The most significant weather change arrives Tuesday, when a stronger push of cold air follows the frontal passage. Highs will fall into the low 40s to low 50s, and northwest winds will increase sharply to 15–25 mph, with gusts between 30 and 45 mph expected throughout the day. The blustery conditions may create difficult travel for high-profile vehicles and reduce comfort levels for holiday travelers preparing for Thanksgiving week.
While no severe weather is expected, the combination of cooler temperatures and strong winds will make Tuesday feel notably colder than earlier in the week. Drier conditions return by late Tuesday afternoon.
Residents across south-central and central Nebraska should monitor forecasts as timing and wind strength are refined.
