Carter Lake, Iowa – Gusty winds and passing showers will keep things unsettled across Carter Lake and the Omaha metro today as Iowa braces for a weather pattern shift heading into Memorial Day weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, Tuesday, May 20 will bring cloudy skies, a high near 61°F, and northwest winds from 10 to 15 mph, gusting as high as 25 mph. A few light showers may fall after 5 p.m., with rain totals under a tenth of an inch expected.

While today’s conditions won’t cause major disruptions, wind gusts could impact drivers along I-29 and Highway 6, especially in open areas. Tuesday night will stay breezy with a slight chance of showers between 9 p.m. and midnight. Expect lows around 44°F.

Looking ahead to Wednesday, May 21, conditions improve. The day will start partly sunny with a high near 63°F and lighter winds. Clouds return by night, but rain holds off until late week.
