Hastings, Nebraska – A humid stretch with highs near 95°F will continue across Nebraska today, as the risk of isolated thunderstorms lingers and skies gradually clear. Areas hit hard by Monday’s heavy rain will finally see a break, with drying conditions allowing for some relief.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, a 20% chance of showers will persist until this afternoon before winds shift south at 12-22 mph and skies turn partly cloudy. Wednesday brings the week’s hottest temperatures—peaking at 98°F in some areas—before a late cold front triggers scattered showers and thunderstorms Wednesday night, with rain chances jumping to 50-60% for central and south-central Nebraska.

Expect cooler air to move in Thursday, with highs dropping to the low 80s for many, as clouds and storm chances remain. By Friday, sunshine and seasonal temperatures in the mid-80s to low 90s return, bringing some stability to travel and outdoor plans.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity during peak heat, and have weather alerts enabled—especially ahead of Wednesday night’s storms.

Watch for additional advisories through the week as conditions shift with each front.
