Hastings, NE – Residents across Nebraska should prepare for changing conditions today as thunderstorms and a cold front move through the region, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Hastings.
Highs will range from the low 70s in the northwest to mid-80s in the southeast, with strong southerly winds shifting north as the front passes. The NWS says this system will trigger afternoon to overnight storms, with the greatest potential for stronger activity across southeast Nebraska.
According to the forecast, scattered storms may linger into the first half of Monday before clearing from west to east. Cooler temperatures will follow, with highs Monday only reaching the mid-50s to low 60s.
By Tuesday, skies are expected to remain mostly cloudy with highs near 61–66°F, before conditions gradually improve midweek. Wednesday should bring mostly sunny skies and slightly warmer temperatures near 64–70°F, though a few light showers remain possible.
Drivers are advised to monitor conditions, especially tonight and early Monday, as rain and wind may impact visibility and travel.
