Omaha, NE – Severe weather remains a concern across eastern Nebraska tonight, with the greatest risks expected along the South Dakota-Nebraska border, where late-night storms could bring damaging winds, hail, and possibly tornadoes.
According to the US National Weather Service in Omaha, storms are likely to impact the region between 12 a.m. and 4 a.m. Wednesday, with a 70% to 90% chance of occurrence in northern areas. The primary threat in these areas will be damaging winds, though hail and tornadoes are not ruled out if conditions intensify.
Forecasters also warned of a developing storm system farther south, expected between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Tuesday evening. Though this area carries a lower risk, with a 20% to 40% chance of storms forming, it poses a conditional threat for severe weather. These southern storms, if they develop, may move southeast and could include tornado activity.
The weather service emphasized that residents across the region should remain alert and monitor forecasts closely. While northern Nebraska faces the most significant risk, areas around Omaha could still see dangerous weather during the evening hours.
Officials encourage residents to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts overnight and to be prepared to act quickly if warnings are issued.
