Omaha, NE – Nebraska is set for two rounds of snow this week, with light accumulation Monday followed by a heavier storm Tuesday night into Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Omaha/Valley, the first system arrives Monday afternoon, bringing 0.5 to 1.5 inches of snow across northeast Nebraska before spreading south. Northeasterly winds of 10-15 mph may cause minor travel impacts.
The second system moves in late Tuesday, with a 70-90% chance of heavier snow. Forecasts indicate several inches of accumulation, particularly along and south of Interstate 80 and into northern Kansas. Wind chills could drop as low as 10 to 20 below zero Wednesday night.
Winter storm watches are already in effect for portions of Kansas, with possible extensions into southeast Nebraska. The NWS warns of increased travel difficulties and lower visibility as the heavier snow arrives.
Residents should prepare for hazardous conditions and monitor updates as the forecast develops.
