OMAHA, Neb. – Golden light spreads over the Missouri River this morning as calm air and clear skies signal a perfect fall stretch for the Omaha–Council Bluffs metro. The mild pattern will last through midweek, but cooler air and gusty winds look set to return by the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley, high pressure over the Plains is keeping conditions dry and stable. Temperatures will climb into the low 80s Monday afternoon before easing slightly into the 70s Tuesday. Light winds from the north this morning will shift south by Tuesday, bringing a steady warm breeze and ideal travel weather for I-80 commuters and outdoor workers.
By Wednesday, highs near 81°F will make it one of the warmest stretches so far this November. Skies stay mostly sunny, and humidity remains low — great for leaf cleanup, early Christmas decorating, or enjoying the final bursts of fall color across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.
The pattern begins to change late Thursday as a weak front slides through the region. Winds will pick up from the northwest by Friday, dropping temperatures back into the 60s with morning lows dipping into the 40s. No rain is expected until at least Saturday, when light showers could develop along the Missouri River valley.
After a mild, quiet start to the week, the Heartland may finally feel a hint of November’s chill this weekend — a reminder that winter’s early push could arrive just before Thanksgiving.
