Nebraska — A calm, crisp morning settles over the Omaha–Council Bluffs area, with quiet skies and a light south breeze sweeping across the Missouri River. The air feels still — a brief pause before changing weather patterns start building across the central U.S. this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, mild and sunny conditions continue through Sunday, with highs climbing near 63°F Saturday and 59°F Sunday. These temperatures are several degrees above normal for late November, but the pattern begins shifting by Monday as clouds thicken and rain spreads across eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.

Rain chances rise sharply by Monday morning, with widespread showers expected through the day. Some areas could see a quarter inch or more of rainfall, making for a wet commute along I-80 and other regional routes. Behind the rain, cooler air filters in by Tuesday, bringing daytime highs back into the 40s.

By Thanksgiving Day, forecasters expect a noticeable chill across the Plains — highs near the low 40s and lows dipping near freezing. While no snow is currently expected for the Omaha metro, national weather models suggest a major cold front could sweep across the country between November 25th and December 3rd, with heavy snow possible farther north into the Dakotas, Minnesota, and the Great Lakes region.

Five-Day Outlook (Omaha, NE–Council Bluffs, IA):

  • Today: Sunny, high 63°F.
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny, high 59°F.
  • Monday: Rain likely, high 55°F.
  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny, high 48°F.
  • Wednesday: Partly cloudy, high 41°F.
