North Platte, NE – A powerful winter storm is set to impact Nebraska, bringing blizzard conditions, high winds, and dangerous travel through Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, a Blizzard Warning remains in effect from 3 a.m. CST Tuesday until noon Wednesday for much of north-central, southwest, and western Nebraska. Snowfall accumulations between 2 and 6 inches are expected, with winds gusting up to 65 mph.

Whiteout conditions will make travel hazardous, with treacherous roads and reduced visibility. Officials warn that the Tuesday morning and evening commutes could be severely impacted. Additionally, strong winds may cause extensive tree damage and power outages.

A second Blizzard Warning covers central and north-central Nebraska, including Boyd, Holt, and Custer counties, from noon Tuesday to noon Wednesday. This region is expected to see up to 2 inches of snow, with similar wind gusts and travel dangers.

Authorities urge residents to avoid travel unless necessary and carry a winter survival kit if venturing out. If stranded, individuals are advised to remain in their vehicles and seek assistance. For the latest road conditions, residents can call Nebraska 511 or visit www.weather.gov/lbf.

The storm is expected to ease by Wednesday afternoon, but lingering travel disruptions and strong winds may persist into the evening hours.
