Omaha, NE – Rain and snow are sweeping across northeast Nebraska and northwest Iowa Friday, with slippery roads and reduced visibility expected overnight. By Saturday morning, conditions will improve as skies clear, making way for a sunny weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, areas north of Interstate 80, including Wayne and Leigh, could see 4 to 7 inches of snow. A winter storm warning remains in effect overnight, with northeast winds of 10 to 25 mph causing visibility to drop as low as ¾ of a mile. South of I-80, snowfall totals will be lower, with 1 to 4 inches expected.

By Saturday, sunshine returns, with highs reaching the upper 40s. Sunday will be even warmer, with highs in the 60s, making for a pleasant start to Daylight Saving Time. Clocks spring ahead one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday, so residents should prepare for an earlier sunrise and later sunset.

Looking ahead, Monday will be the warmest day of the week, with highs near 73°F. A slight cooldown follows, with highs in the 50s and 60s through midweek.

Travelers should use caution Friday night, especially along I-80, where roads may be slick. Warmer, sunnier weather arrives just in time for the weekend.
