Cleveland, Ohio – Strong thunderstorms could disrupt travel and outdoor plans across northern and western Ohio Saturday afternoon, with the highest risk for severe weather west of I-71.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, scattered storms will develop by mid-afternoon and may continue into the evening hours. Affected areas include Toledo, Lima, Findlay, and Mansfield. Some storms may produce damaging wind gusts over 60 mph, hail, and torrential rainfall capable of causing localized flash flooding.
Counties including Lorain, Richland, and Marion fall within the slight risk zone, while Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown remain in the marginal risk area. U.S. 30, I-70, and I-75 could see delays or hazardous driving conditions as storms intensify during the late commute.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, charge mobile devices in case of power outages, and avoid driving through flooded roads. Urban and low-lying areas are especially vulnerable to brief but intense rainfall that may overwhelm drainage systems.
Severe thunderstorm warnings may be issued throughout the day. Additional updates and alerts are likely through Saturday night as the system moves east.
