Danville, IL – A dangerous TikTok trend known as the “door kick challenge” is alarming residents across the United States, with recent incidents reported in Illinois sparking national concern. The challenge involves individuals kicking in doors late at night and fleeing, often capturing the act on video for social media.

In Danville, Illinois, police have documented three occurrences on Mill Street over recent months. The latest incident took place on October 4 around 4:10 a.m., following similar reports in June. While these incidents did not result in theft or break-ins, they have left residents shaken and worried for their safety, particularly in the early hours.

Police warn that what may seem like a prank could easily turn dangerous. In two cases, Danville homeowners prepared to defend their homes with firearms, underscoring the risks that come with these disturbances. Law enforcement officials are concerned that a confrontation could lead to serious injury or even death.

Authorities are urging residents nationwide to consider installing doorbell cameras and other security systems, as homes without these devices appear to be targeted. They are also encouraging parents to monitor their children’s online activities closely to prevent further spread of this trend.
