NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee will stay hot and mostly dry through the weekend, but the National Weather Service says a slight chance of storms could pop up during the afternoon hours. Highs are expected to push into the low to mid-90s, well above normal for mid-September.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, there is a 10 to 20 percent chance of a scattered shower or thunderstorm each day through Sunday. Most areas will remain dry, though brief downpours and lightning are possible where storms form.

The hottest stretch will come Friday and Saturday when highs may reach 94 to 95 degrees across Davidson, Rutherford, and Williamson counties. Humidity will add to the discomfort, especially for those spending extended time outdoors. Metro residents should also prepare for warm nights, with lows only dropping into the 60s.

Drivers could encounter brief slick spots if a storm develops, but widespread travel issues are not expected. Officials encourage anyone with outdoor plans to monitor the sky and move inside quickly if storms approach.

This pattern is expected to hold into early next week, with temperatures remaining above average and only minimal storm chances.
