Nashville, Tenn. – Tennesseans are battling sweltering heat Thursday, with heat index values soaring as high as 107°F across Nashville, Clarksville, Columbia, and surrounding counties.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. CDT Thursday, as actual air temperatures peak between 87° and 97°F, with the worst heat risk between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Nearly all of Middle Tennessee, including Waynesboro, Smithville, and Tullahoma, is under a “Major” heat risk level, signaling danger for anyone without access to cooling or proper hydration.
Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, stay in air-conditioned spaces, and check on vulnerable neighbors and pets. This is especially critical in high-impact areas like Davidson, Williamson, and Maury counties.
Relief is in sight. Friday marks the beginning of a cool-down, with highs dropping into the low 80s and a noticeable dip in humidity expected by Saturday. While the heat threat eases, conditions remain warm into next week, with temperatures slowly rebounding by Tuesday.
More advisories could be issued if temperatures spike again. Stay alert and monitor weather.gov/nashville for live updates.
