NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee is set for a stormy stretch to start the week, with rounds of rain and thunderstorms likely from Monday afternoon through Tuesday night. The National Weather Service says locally heavy downpours could lead to ponding on roads during the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, showers will increase Monday afternoon with a 60% chance of rain and possible thunderstorms. Storm chances rise sharply to 90% by Tuesday, with gusty winds up to 20 mph and brief periods of lightning and heavy rainfall.
The wet pattern is expected to break by Wednesday as skies turn partly sunny and highs reach the mid-70s. Cooler nights in the 50s will follow midweek before clear, dry weather dominates heading into the weekend.
Drivers are urged to slow down on slick roads and stay alert for flooded low spots. Outdoor plans may need adjustments through Tuesday night, but calmer and brighter weather should return by midweek.
