Nashville, Tenn. — Breezy and unsettled weather is expected across Middle Tennessee on Thursday as a passing system brings widespread showers and gusty winds, though forecasters say the risk for severe storms remains low.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, rain chances will increase sharply Thursday, especially during the afternoon and evening hours, with probabilities reaching 90% to 100% across much of the region. Southwesterly winds will become gusty, with peak gusts reaching up to 35 mph.
While some residents may have heard concerns about thunderstorms, forecasters say atmospheric instability appears limited. As a result, severe storms are not expected to develop despite the gusty winds.
High temperatures Thursday are forecast to range from the mid-50s to lower 60s, followed by a noticeable cool-down Thursday night as a cold front moves through. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s by Friday morning, raising the potential for a chilly start to the day.
Conditions are expected to improve Friday, with clearing skies, cooler air and sunshine returning. Highs Friday are forecast in the upper 30s to mid-40s, with dry weather continuing into the weekend.
Looking ahead, forecasters say a warming trend will develop early next week. Temperatures are expected to rebound into the 50s by the weekend and may climb into the 60s — and possibly low 70s — by Christmas week, bringing a milder pattern to the region.
Drivers are advised to use caution Thursday during periods of heavier rain and gusty winds, especially during the evening commute. Residents should also secure loose outdoor items that could be blown around by strong gusts.
Forecasters encourage the public to stay updated on the latest conditions through official weather channels as Thursday’s system moves through the region.
