Nashville, Tennessee – Warm temperatures and increasing rain chances are expected across Middle Tennessee this weekend, with some locations possibly seeing record highs before wetter weather moves in.

The National Weather Service in Nashville says above-normal temperatures will continue Friday, with highs expected to reach the upper 70s to mid-80s across much of the region.

These unusually warm conditions could allow daily record high temperatures to be tied or broken in some locations.

While most of the day should remain warm and breezy, a few isolated showers or storms could develop Friday, mainly across northwestern parts of Middle Tennessee.

Rain chances will increase significantly over the weekend as a weather system moves into the area.

Forecasters expect widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday, with rain chances around 90 to 100 percent Saturday and remaining elevated into Sunday.

High temperatures Saturday are expected to reach the low to mid-70s, with overnight lows falling into the upper 50s to low 60s.

Although widespread severe weather is not expected, a few storms on Saturday could become strong, producing gusty winds and brief heavy rainfall.

By Sunday, cooler air will begin moving into the region, bringing highs back into the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.

Additional rain chances could continue into early next week before temperatures gradually cool by midweek.

Residents planning outdoor activities this weekend should keep an eye on changing weather conditions and have rain gear ready.

Meteorologists also recommend monitoring forecasts and alerts, especially if thunderstorms develop.
