Nashville, TN – Middle Tennessee is gearing up for a turbulent weather pattern heading into the weekend, featuring two strong cold fronts, a round of storms Friday, and a sharp temperature plunge by early next week, according to the National Weather Service in Nashville.
The first front arrives Friday, bringing rain and the potential for a few strong to severe thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening. The NWS places the region under a Level 1 to 2 (Marginal to Slight) risk for severe weather, with gusty winds, lightning, and small hail possible.
The second front moves in Saturday night, delivering much colder air that will send temperatures nosediving into the 20s by Monday and Tuesday mornings. Some light snow or flurries may occur Sunday night, particularly along the Cumberland Plateau, though no accumulation is expected.
Forecasters describe this as a “weather rollercoaster,” with warm highs in the 70s Thursday and Friday quickly replaced by freezing lows to start next week. Residents should prepare for rapidly changing conditions and monitor updates as the fronts move through.
