Nashville, Tenn. – Periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms will continue across Middle Tennessee through Thursday, with localized flooding and gusty winds possible in several counties. Travel disruptions are most likely during the evening and overnight hours as the unsettled pattern lingers.
According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, rain chances remain at 80 to 95 percent across cities including Clarksville, Nashville, and Cookeville through Thursday morning, tapering to 45 to 70 percent by Thursday night. The risk of severe storms is low, but any stronger cell could bring damaging wind gusts and heavy downpours, particularly along low-lying roads and creeks.
Lawrenceburg and Crossville are expected to see some of the heaviest rainfall totals, with nearly round-the-clock storm chances near 90 percent through Thursday afternoon. Drivers are urged to slow down in heavy rain and avoid flooded intersections.
Conditions will gradually stabilize on Friday, with rain chances dropping into the single digits by the weekend. More seasonable, dry weather is expected to return, offering relief for outdoor events and travel plans.
Warnings remain in place through Thursday, and additional advisories may be issued if storm intensity increases.
