Nashville, TN – A convicted felon accused of firing at a Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) detective Friday is now facing multiple new charges after officers discovered a large stash of narcotics inside his home.

According to MNPD, Otis Beach, a convicted cocaine and gun felon, allegedly shot directly at a detective during an encounter on Friday. The detective was not injured. Following the incident, investigators executed a search warrant at Beach’s residence on Centreboard Court, uncovering 33 pounds of fentanyl, 4.7 pounds of cocaine, 3.4 pounds of marijuana, and $51,000 in cash.

Police say Beach was on a 10-year probated sentence at the time of the shooting. He now faces a range of new charges, including attempted murder and multiple drug-related felonies tied to the substances recovered.

Authorities noted that the seized narcotics represent a significant amount of potentially lethal fentanyl—enough to endanger thousands of lives across the Nashville area.

Beach remains in custody as the investigation continues. MNPD reports the detective involved was “thankfully uninjured.”
