Nashville, TN – A woman was killed after being hit by two vehicles Saturday night on Brick Church Pike, prompting an investigation by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
According to a media release from Metro Nashville Police, a 17-year-old driver of a Nissan Versa reported the woman was standing in the roadway’s centerline as he traveled northbound near Moorewood Drive when she stepped into his path. The teen told investigators he tried to avoid hitting her but was unsuccessful. After the crash, he left the scene, went home, notified his parents, and later contacted authorities.
The teen was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death, driving without a license, failure to report, and having no insurance.
Before the collision was reported, a 25-year-old man driving a Ford Fusion also ran over the woman’s body. Police said he believed he had struck an object—possibly a mattress—and only realized it was a person after arriving home and inspecting his vehicle. He then called dispatch.
The 25-year-old driver did not exhibit signs of impairment, according to officials.
The Medical Examiner’s Office is working to identify the woman killed in the incident. Police have not released her identity pending further investigation.
