Nashville, Tennessee — Cold air has settled into Middle Tennessee Thursday morning, with scattered flurries reported early and breezy conditions keeping temperatures well below seasonal norms.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, flurries were observed across parts of the region early Thursday, though no significant accumulation is expected. Skies are forecast to gradually clear later today, allowing for some sunshine, but temperatures will remain cold and brisk.

Forecasters say Thursday will stay cold and breezy, followed by rain chances Friday afternoon. As temperatures fall after sunset Friday, rain showers are expected to transition to snow showers, especially across higher elevations. A low chance of light snow accumulation, less than one inch, is possible along the Cumberland Plateau Friday night.

High temperatures Friday are forecast to range from the mid-40s to low 50s, before colder air returns for the weekend. Saturday is expected to be cold and breezy, with highs mainly in the 30s to lower 40s across Middle Tennessee.

The National Weather Service notes that while some warming is possible heading into the weekend, overall cold conditions will persist, marking a shift toward a more winter-like pattern for the coming days.

Drivers should remain alert for slick spots early Thursday where flurries briefly reduced visibility. Residents are encouraged to dress for cold conditions and monitor updated forecasts as precipitation chances increase Friday.
