Nashville, TN — A two-car collision Wednesday afternoon at Old Hickory Boulevard and Barnes Road left one driver dead. The crash occurred when a Nissan Altima, traveling south on Old Hickory Boulevard at a high rate of speed, ran a stop sign at Barnes Road. It was then struck on the passenger side by a Dodge Dart heading east on Barnes Road.

According to the preliminary investigation, the Dodge had stopped at a stop sign before entering the intersection. The driver of the Nissan, Timothy Vetitoe, 47, of Nashville, lost control after the impact, causing the car to roll into a field and land on the driver’s side.

Vetitoe, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The 26-year-old driver of the Dodge suffered only minor injuries.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
