Nashville, TN – Police have arrested a 45-year-old man in connection with a fatal August crash on I-40 near Bellevue. Delmas Wiseman allegedly lost control of his Buick sedan, crossing the median into westbound traffic and colliding with a motorcyclist.
Jacob Rhea, 30, died at the scene. Wiseman’s 3-year-old daughter, who was in the backseat without a child safety seat, later died at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. Two other juveniles, ages 5 and 6, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators revealed Wiseman only braked for a second before releasing them entirely. Police allege he made no effort to regain control before the collision. Evidence led to four charges, including two counts of vehicular homicide by recklessness and two counts of child endangerment.
Authorities arrested Wiseman Sunday morning. He remains in custody with a $70,000 bond.
The crash occurred near the Bellevue Newsom Station exit. Officials urge drivers to prioritize safety and remain alert on the road.
