Naperville, IL – Naperville’s Water Utility invites residents with lead service lines to join the Lead and Copper Monitoring Program. This free EPA-mandated program tests water quality twice annually to ensure the effectiveness of lead corrosion controls.
According to city officials, homeowners with lead service lines, regardless of prior testing results, are encouraged to participate. The next testing cycle begins in January 2025. Volunteers help safeguard community health by providing critical data for water quality improvement efforts.
Homes built before 1986 may have lead service lines. The city advises homeowners unsure about their water line materials to schedule inspections. Naperville has worked to remove outdated pipes and reduce lead risks, aligning with Illinois Environmental Protection Agency standards.
To join the monitoring program or schedule an inspection, residents can visit Naperville’s water quality webpage or contact city officials. Annual sampling ensures lead levels remain below EPA action thresholds.
The city remains committed to accelerating lead line replacements ahead of EPA timelines. Residents can access the Lead Service Line Map and additional resources online.
